Meet Bonnie Arenas-Rose

MOT, OTR/L

Bonnie is a licensed pediatric occupational therapist serving children and families throughout the Orlando area. She specializes in supporting children who experience challenges with sensory processing, fine motor development, school readiness, and daily living skills.

Her work is rooted in securing the "Mind-Body" connection — the foundation that allows higher-level learning, regulation, and confidence to grow.

When should you reach out?

If your child shows 2 or more of these signs, an occupational therapy screening or evaluation may be helpful.

Sensory Processing & Regulation

  • Covers ears for loud sounds or avoids messy play (sand, glue, paint)

  • High pain tolerance or doesn't notice messy face/hands

​​

  • Constantly on the go, crashing, or spinning without dizziness

​​

  • Extreme distress with transitions between activities

Fine Motor & School Readiness

  • Whole-hand fist grip or switches hands frequently past age 4

​​

  • Letters inconsistently sized or floating off the line

​​

  • Struggles with scissors, rulers, or glue sticks

  • Difficulty imitating circles, crosses, or squares

Self-Care & Independence

  • Difficulty with buttons, zippers, snaps, or shoes

  • Extreme picky eating (fewer than 10–15 foods)

  • Distress during hair washing, tooth brushing, or nail clipping

​​

  • Trouble using a spoon or fork independently

Gross Motor & Coordination

  • Slumps at desk, leans on hand, prefers laying during circle time

  • Appears clumsy, frequently trips, struggles to jump or hop

​​

  • Difficulty using both hands together (e.g., cutting with paper)

  • Avoids playground climbing or balance equipment

Executive Function & Social Play

  • Easily distracted by background noises or visual stimuli

  • Difficulty following 2–3 step directions

  • Trouble keeping a workspace tidy or staying organized

  • Struggles to share, take turns, or navigate peer play
